SUN MAHSHENE, the Dublin post shoegaze sextet announce their new single, ‘Reverie’ (Radio Edit) with impact slated for 1st Dec. This NEW RADIO EDIT follows the release of the original extended version which was released in September and will feature on their forthcoming album. Digital Distribution is by Distrokid.
SUN MAHSHENE are an indie/alternative/nu-gaze band, formed and based in Dublin, R.O.I. New single, ‘Reverie’ is a glittering, glistening sneak peak at what to follow on the band’s debut album A Place We’ve Never Been, which is set for release early next year. ‘Reverie’ is proudly shoegaze, anthemic indie and grunge tinged alternative, all at the same time, yet it displays its core credentials boldly, with none other than RIDE’s Mark Gardener at the controls on mastering duties.
Lead singer Nathan Henderson said the band are super excited for people to hear their new material, saying ‘Reverie came out of lockdown when no one knew what was going to happen. So, we decided to write a song that would give us a purpose.’ While guitarist Rob added: ‘Reverie is a great taster for the album as it’ll show people what we’ve been up to and where we are going next.’ Of the song’s meaning Nathan adds, “The song looks at how life throws so much at us we can lose focus on what the important things are: Friends, home, stability.” Featuring soul-baring lyrics and atmospheric instrumentation, ‘Reverie’ marks a big step forward from the group’s earlier psych-rock sound. Expanding on the traditional shoegaze soundscape it combines heavy guitars with blissed out, dreamy sections, utilising synth and ambient electronic elements, giving the listener a chance to pause and breathe before the inevitable hurricane assault of guitars resumes.
Formed in 2018, SUN MAHSHENE have released a series of singles and EPs. In 2020 they released the "Contradictions & Tales of Fiction" EP, followed by the single "The Righteous One". The single was supported by a mind-bending music video, directed by award winning visual artist Ste Murray. The culmination of the band’s first phase was the release of LP Space Echoes: The EPs released on vinyl in 2022 by Reckless Records which sold out in just one day. 2022 also saw the band grow to a six piece with the addition of keyboard player Asia Wolf.
