PLANET

Bursting into the UK Music scene from Australia, PLANET are a four-piece Indie Rock band from Sydney, formed in 2017. PLANET are Vocalist and guitarist Matty Took (younger brother of Johnny Took of DMA’s), guitarist Tom Peppitt, bassist Jimmy Weaver and drummer Harry Stewart-Weeks. Known for supporting LIAM GALLAGHER, GERRY CINNAMON out in Australia before the pandemic, performing during The Great Escape Online in 2020 as well as previous releases, ‘Aching Dream’, ‘Need More’.

As a southern hemisphere artist the lads are acutely aware of the importance of the UK and Radio to their journey.  PLANET have stated, “We love UK radio, it gets us and our 'sound'. We tend to chuck on Radio X or BBC radio when we are touring there but enjoy listening to the local banter in each city we play in. Grew up listening to The Beatles, The Verve, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Smiths, The La’s, Gorillaz, The Pretenders + heaps more from the UK.” With 2022 being the year that the band will grow  to the next level with the release of their debut album, AUS tour and UK/IRE tour dates.

Due for release in March 2022, PLANET’s debut album, Information Overload, took an more individual route than most, primarily because it was recorded when the world stopped turning at the height of COVID-19 in 2020, but also because it was partially recorded in what sounds like some kind of undercover, rock ‘n’ roll heist. Despite the at times alienated nature of the lyrics, however, sonically Information Overload feels like a warm, whisky-soaked dream. With moments that conjure memories of The Verve or The War On Drugs, it’s an album that feels bright and effervescent. Each song floats from one to the next, with an atmosphere that permeates the entire thing.
