Louis Croft

LOUIS CROFT is a Singer Songwriter from Nottingham. He is influenced by Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Simon and Garfunkel, The Pogues and The Beatles. He has been featured on BBC Introducing in the East Midlands, with Dean Jackson dubbing him ‘one of the most prolific artists round here’. He performed at the Long Road Country Festival in 2019 for BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 2, after which he was featured on the Bob Harris Country Show on BBC Radio 2. He has supported artists such as The Coral and The Lathums. Louis released his debut Ep which was produced by James Skelly (The Coral) and recorded in Parr Street Studios in Liverpool. His previous single 'If I Told You' was released on 26th May on Run On Records.

A relative newcomer to the scene, LOUS writes Jake Bugg x Nick Drake infused lyrics focusing on Mental Health wellbeing with music inspired by a mix of current and seventies artists.  When asked about the new single ‘The World Is Upside down For Me’ Louis said, “I wrote The World is Upside Down for me about my struggle with mental health, particularly anxiety. It’s quite a common thing but a lot of people (a lot of men) don’t talk about it. It’s just about that feeling of anxiety, confusion and fear. It could also subconsciously be a lockdown tune as the covid lockdowns caused these issues for a lot of people, but I was very clear with myself I wanted to write a song about mental health as it was and is still such a big part of mine and a lot of other people's lives.”

When asked about his favourite musicians LOUIS commented, “I have a lot of influences on my music. I like a lot of older music obviously, such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel and Johnny Cash. I get compared to Jake Bugg a lot which I don’t mind as I’m from Nottingham and his first 2 albums were a big reason I got the confidence to perform in front of other people. I take influence from other artists like The Smiths, Oasis and The Stone Roses as well but it’s mainly older artists that inspire me, people like Nick Drake, my favourite albums of his are Pink Moon and Five Leaves Left.”

LOUIS CROFT is set to support Jake Bugg in November on the 10th Anniversary tour of Bugg’s breakthrough debut album.  A lifetime Nottingham Forest fan, LOUIS was thrilled to have been part of the warm up entertainment at Wembley Stadium for the recent Premiere League Play off game that Notts Forest won.
