JUNO

JUNO, the Liverpool based nu gaze quintet announce their new single, ‘Everything I Need’ set for release on 23rd November with radio impact slated for 15th Dec.  Digital Distribution is by Distrokid.

JUNO are an indie/alternative/nu-gaze band, formed in Hampshire, currently based in Liverpool, UK. JUNO consists of Max Mullen (Lead Vocals), Ben Coles (Guitar), George Vinall (Guitar), Will Clawson (Drums) and Tom Greathead (Bass).

Influenced by the soaring guitar tones of the shoegaze movement, upbeat rhythms and intricate bass lines, JUNO amalgamates the ambience of the 90s with the drive of the modern alternative scene.  Max Mullen’s honest and vulnerable lyrics are paired with bold hooks a-plenty ensuring JUNO are both vividly contemporary and urgently relevant.  Their previous single, ‘One More Time’ saw the band gain plays on BBC Radio 6 Music: Amy Lame + Steve Lamacq; BBCR1 Nels Hylton: Radio X - John Kennedy, plus many others including Dave Monks, BBC Introducing Merseyside.

Of the new track, ‘Everything I Need’ singer Max says,“The song is an energetic yet soppy ode to the true essence of love, poking fun at the triviality of lavish gifts and presents compared to the authenticity of genuine affection. The song was built around the intro guitar line which was layered with a dualling guitar melody and intricate bassline. After messing with it in the rehearsal room we had the meandering verse lyric and hook of the chorus. We love playing this one live as the high energy and soppy lyrics do make it feel like an indie anthem.”

JUNO’s earliest live shows took place whilst they were studying for their GCSEs with the band playing venues across Bournemouth, Southampton, Leeds, Liverpool and London.  In late 2022 Will joined as a rhythm guitarist though quicked switched onto drums. Early in 2023 George joined on rhythm guitar, thus cementing the current line and effectively rebooting the band.  ‘Everything I Need’ is the second release of this new lineup.  JUNO have previously released four singles, ‘She’s It’, ‘Do You Want Me?’, ‘Better For It’ and ‘One More Time’.  New single ‘Everything I Need’ was recorded and produced by Ruben Angress and JUNO, mixed by Richie Kennedy and was mastered by Mark Gardener (Ride).

Whilst many bands choose their name after an influential Swedish arthouse movie, a semi obscure French novel, or their favourite Interpol B side, singer Max Mullen’s family dog was named Juno. This was more than enough reason to name the band JUNO.  Erstwhile movie nerds and synth obsessed gearheads may beg to differ, but this time his cockapoo quite literally takes the (dog) biscuit!
