Amethysts

AMETHYSTS, the nu-gaze duo announce their new single, ‘Bloodline’ released on 15th Sept via Conch Town Records/Tabby Tracks with radio impact slated for 6th October 2023.  Digital Distribution is by Melody Mover.

AMETHYSTS have previously worked with acclaimed producer Shuta Shinoda (Daughter, Ghostpoet, Anna Meredith and Hot Chip) and labels including RAMP Recordings (James Blake Jamie XX) and Manimal Vinyl.  The duo return to active duties with their first single in two years, ‘Bloodline’.  In a world where ‘genre’ can mean everything or nothing, AMETHYSTS define their sound simply as ‘nu-gaze’.

AMETHYSTS use airy synthesisers, biting guitars and deep sub bass to build a unique blend of electronic, indie and dream-pop elements underneath Clarice & Simon’s delicate and emotive vocal harmonies.  Renowned for their uniquely crafted atmospheric sound, the pair have built a glittering catalogue of tracks which have racked up over 1.7 million plays on Apple Music.

AMETHYSTS have received radio play from BBCR1, BBC Radio 6 Music, Amazing Radio, Kerrang! Radio and BBC Introducing among others. No strangers to the festival circuit, the duo have played sets at Latitude Festival, Secret Garden Party and BBC Introducing Live plus opened for the likes of Anna Meredith, Bessie Turner and Nothing But Thieves.

Forwards to September 2023 and AMETHYSTS emerge from their studio cocoon, following an extended period of ‘production’ to embark the next phase of their careers.  ‘Bloodline’ is the first of three tracks that will be released as an EP later this year.   AMETHYSTS have recently signed to Miami based label, Conch Town Records with their material being co-released on Tabby Tracks imprint.  As it becomes clear when you listen to the new material, Clarice and Simon have recently undergone a huge life event with the birth of a child changing every conceivable aspect of their personal lives.  The writing on the forthcoming EP reflects that sense of wonder, readjustment, humanity and vulnerability that parenthood brings.  ‘Bloodline’ was performed by Simon and Clarice, produced by Alex Gordon (The Cure, Bat For Lashes), mixed by Alex Gordan at Brighton Electric, and mastered by Tom Stanford.

When talking about the new single Clairce commented, “Living in the transition from who you used to be, to who you are now after entering parenthood for the first time. ‘Bloodline’ is about the journey where you slowly start to find yourself again and realise the old you is now an enhanced and strengthened version of the person you used to be thanks to such a small, innocent, but powerful little human being. And despite the challenges and conflicts with yourself along the way, you’d happily do it all again.”
